Safety/Training Manager II

Under the direction of the Division Manager or designate, responsible for the administration of safety and training programs for personnel authorized to drive revenue vehicles. Familiar with ART/BRT, Pulse, and I-90 Service. Monitors annual physicals of safety sensitive employees, FTA drug and alcohol regulations and pre-employment physicals. Responsible for monitoring and reporting workers compensation and sick/disability cases. Investigation of accidents including reports and preventability assessments of all accidents. Develops and administers safety and training programs, Drive Cam reports, building and vehicle safety inspections; safety counseling; training and retraining; safety meetings; acts as liaison with other agencies. Handles confidential discipline, FMLA or other matters as needed. Implements programs designed to protect the safety of employees, passengers, and the public. Other duties as assigned or directed.
Qualified candidate must have a minimum of 5 years experience in transportation or related experience, including a thorough knowledge of safety, training, and operations inclusive of standard operating procedures and defensive bus driving. Must possess, or be able to obtain, a valid Class A Commercial Drivers License. Must demonstrate: excellent written and verbal communication skills; problem solving skills; public relations expertise; mathematical proficiency; quick, accurate decision making skills; supervision skills. Must have Supervisor and/or Dispatch and IBS Experience. Prefer some college coursework from an accredited college or university. The performance of these duties may be required at any time of the day and night, any day and night of the week. Must have no preventable accidents 24 months preceding bid application and up until time of job placement. Previous experience in safety and/or training and knowledge of service area is preferred. Must have a good work history.
