Assistant Safety & Training Manager

Job Description:
Under the direction of the Safety & Training Manager or designate, assists in administration of and conducts safety and training programs for all personnel authorized to drive any company vehicle. Duties include: conducting accident/incident investigations including reviewing and/or writing reports and preventability assessments of all accidents/incidents; monitoring and scheduling DOT physical compliance; monitoring drug and alcohol compliance for South and South Holland; monitoring bus operators' licenses; building safety inspections; conducting individual training and safety counseling; conducting group training programs and safety meetings; conducting facility safety inspections; monitoring worker's compensation claims, FMLA, and the disability programs; making schedules and completing pay vouchers; acting as liaison with other agencies; requesting and maintaining information from various camera systems; and performing other duties as assigned or required

Qualifications:
Qualified candidate must be at least 21 years of age and have a high school diploma or equivalent, a valid Class B commercial driver's license with air brake and passenger endorsements, no preventable accidents in the 24 months preceding the bid application up until the date of hire and must possess, or be able to obtain, a valid Class "A" Commercial Driver's License. Must have a minimum of three years' previous experience in public transportation or related experience, including a thorough knowledge of safety, training, investigation, and operations inclusive of standard operating procedures, defensive bus driving, and the General Rule Book; previous experience in safety and/or training and knowledge of service area is preferred; and must have a good work history. Must be proficient with various computer software programs including Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel. Must demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills, written and verbal communication skills, and problem-solving skills; must have public relations expertise, mathematical proficiency, and be adept at making quick and accurate decisions; and must have demonstrate excellent supervisory skills. The performance of these duties may be required at any time of the day and night, any day and night of the week. Work is performed mainly in an office environment but work in a garage environment and travel to and work in a clinical healthcare environment and outside in all temperatures and weather conditions is also required. This is a safety sensitive position.
