Operation Tech Training Specialist
Location: Arlington Heights
Under the direction of the Regional Manager, Maintenance & Technical Services, or Designate, prepares, provides and oversees technical training to Pace Maintenance employees. Develops and presents classroom & service floor training and to oversee all activities of productivity and vehicle maintenance. Works in conjunction with outside agencies to enhance Pace's training program. Administer Apprenticeship Programs and evaluate training programs in conjunction with maintenance supervisors, scheduling classes and training employees in technical and non-technical aspects of maintenance, developing and organizing training manuals, lesson plans, schedules, procedures and certification programs, maintaining records and monitoring and evaluating trainees, Other duties include representing the Maintenance Department, observing and analyzing work practices, encouraging positive changes, resolving bus maintenance problems and vehicle operations issues, and coordinating with staff and other departments. This is a safety sensitive position subject to the rules and regulations of the Drug and Alcohol Policy. Other duties as assigned or required.
Work requires training and monitoring progress for various groups of employees. The employee normally performs the duty assignment according to his or her own judgment, requesting supervisory assistance only when necessary. Special projects are managed with little oversight and assignments may be reviewed upon completion. A minimum of five (5) years of experience in teaching the diagnosis, maintenance and/or repair of transit vehicles, diesel engines or related equipment. Minimum requirements include knowledge of a specific vocational, administrative, or technical nature, which may be obtained with a two (2) year associates degree, diploma or equivalent from an accredited college, technical business, vocational, or correspondence school in Automotive/Diesel. Additional directly-related experience beyond the minimum requirement may substitute for the required education based on the ratio of one and a half (1.5) years of experience for each one (1) year of education. Must be at least 21 years of age and possess or be able to obtain an Exempt CDL Class B License (with Passenger & Air Brake Endorsements), Environmental Protection Agency 608 and 609 Certifications, and Fork Lift. Other Training Certificates as required.
