System Administrator

Job Description:
Under the direction of the Department Manager, Enterprise Infrastructure Services, manages and performance-tunes Windows and Linux servers, Citrix systems, networks, and applications to ensure high levels of availability and security for the supported business applications. This includes planning, developing, installing, configuring, maintaining, supporting, and optimizing all server software and communication links. Manage and administrate operating systems (Windows and Linux) and their corresponding or associated software; oversees installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of end user Citrix applications; provide on-call technical support; assess need for any system reconfigurations (minor or significant) and execute them if required; interact and negotiate with vendors, outsourcers, and contractors to secure software products and services; develop, implement and maintain policies, procedures and associated training plans for system administration and appropriate use; practice network asset management, including maintenance of network component inventory and related documentation and technical specifications information; write and modify Requests for Proposals and Invitations for Bids for small equipment purchases; perform system backups and restores; monitor and test server software performance and provide statistics and reports; creates and manages project plans and milestones for minor projects such as system upgrades; performs other duties as required.

College diploma or university degree in the field of computer science and/or 2 years equivalent work experience. ITIL preferred; working technical knowledge of network, PC, and platform operating systems, including Windows Server, Active Directory, virtualization, Azure and Linux and/or certifications in Microsoft Windows or Linux. Extensive application support experience with Citrix. Hands-on software and hardware troubleshooting experience. Strong interpersonal and oral communication skills. Adept at reading, writing, and interpreting technical documentation and procedure manuals. Work Conditions, on-call availability for 24/7; lifting and transporting of moderately heavy objects, such as computers, servers and peripherals up to 20-50 pounds; sitting for extended periods of time in a cubicle; standing for extended periods of time in an air-conditioned computer room. Travel to divisions and other Pace related locations.
