Contract Buyer I
Location: Arlington Heights
Under the direction of the Section Manager, responsible for procuring materials, supplies, and services, through procurement methods such as Request for Quotations (RFQs) and less complex Invitation for Bids (IFBs) for service requirements such as landscaping, janitorial, snow plowing maintenance, computer hardware, Maintenance Repair Operation (MRO) items, equipment maintenance, towing services, etc. The position requires preparing change orders and purchase orders. When applicable, adhere to the Federal Transportation Administration (FTA) regulations to ensure compliance. and Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) cost principals. May require some price/cost analysis. Contract administration such as contract compliance issues; assist end users on contract administration issues as needed. . Provide responses to FOIA requests that pertain to Purchase Orders/Contracts. Adheres to Pace's Ordinance as amended, applies FTA's Best Practices, and follows Procurement policies for capital purchases and Materials Management for inventory purchases. Requires excellent customer service to Pace departments and external customers.
Qualified candidate must have a Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience. Two (2) years of purchasing/contract experience or other related experience preferred. Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills are required. Proficiency in personal computer and Microsoft applications to create correspondence, spreadsheets and database packages. Corporate level (non-manufacturing) or Government procurement/contracting experience a plus, however, not required. Qualified candidate must have a good work history.
