Executive Legal Assistant

Location: Arlington Heights

Job Description:
Under the direction of General Counsel is responsible for assisting with the day-to-day operation of the Legal Department, including creating, reviewing, editing, securing, and maintaining documents and reports (including Board documents); assisting with the investigation and handling of liability claims; issuing and responding to subpoenas; assisting with Freedom of Information Act requests; updating the claims system and active case list; assisting with the preparation of the annual budget; processing and reconciling bills and expenses; scheduling depositions; collecting and distributing mail; answering phones; ordering supplies; copying, scanning, and formatting documents; accepting service of process; and performing other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
Qualified candidate must: have a bachelor's degree; a valid Illinois driver's license and a good driving record; a minimum of five years previous experience as an Executive Legal Assistant; be or be willing to become an Illinois notary public; demonstrate strong problem-solving, analytical, and critical-thinking skills; be highly organized with a penchant for detail; successfully work on numerous projects simultaneously and efficiently in order to meet project deadlines; demonstrate excellent reading comprehension and written and oral communication skills; be able to type with speed and accuracy; be adept at proofreading and editing documents for spelling, grammar, and punctuation; demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills; maintain confidentiality; be adept at prioritizing work; possess basic-intermediate level proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite programs (Outlook, Word, and Excel), Adobe, and Oracle; possess an aptitude for mathematics; be able to make good decisions and work independently in a professional office environment with the majority of the workday consisting of computer work; be able to lift and carry up to 25 pounds; and have a good work record.
