Contract Carrier Specialist
Location: Arlington Heights
Under the direction of the Section Manager, Operating Services or designate, coordinates and oversees the daily operations of contracted bus services. Serves as liaison between and among contractors, Pace, and our riders on all issues relating to the provision of bus service provided by contractors. Communicates daily with riders, contractors, and Pace staff to resolve any service-related issues. Monitors route performance and all aspects of contracted service to ensure compliance. Controls the dispatch or movement of revenue service vehicles for fixed route vehicles. Reviews and prepares reports, conducts audits and reviews compliance for contracted bus services. Provides requisition for payment of contracted bus services. Provides central bus operations support to operating divisions. Schedules and attends meetings. May be required to monitor on the street at any time. Performs other duties as assigned and required. The performance of these duties may be required at any time of the day and night, any day and night of the week.
Qualified candidate must have a high school diploma or equivalent and a valid Class D driver's license with a clean driving record; and must be able to obtain a Class B commercial driver's license with air brake and passenger endorsements (CDL will require DOT certification). Must have a minimum of three years' previous experience in public transportation or related experience, including thorough knowledge of region and Pace services and must have a good work history. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office suite applications including Outlook, Excel and Word and other computer applications to the extent required by specific job functions. Must have strong reading, reading comprehension, and math skills, be detail oriented and highly organized, possess and demonstrate good written and verbal communication skills, and be able to work cooperatively in a team environment.
Work is primarily performed in a professional office environment, however, travel to and work at contractor locations, including garages and outdoors, is also required.
