DuPage County Service 2016 Modernization Project

Pace is pleased to announce updates to Pace′ s DuPage County bus service that will better connect the county with the region as a whole. These changes, affecting Downers Grove, Lisle, Naperville and Woodridge, begin June 13, 2016.

By connecting southern DuPage County with more Metra trains and by linking Naperville and Lombard with a new bus route, Pace hopes to better serve riders and connect communities throughout the region. For detailed information on these new routes, including new schedule and routing details, visit PaceBus.com or look on board for schedules dated June 13, 2016. They will be printed on light yellow paper. Look for Pace representatives handing out new schedules at your Metra station beginning May 31, 2016.

These service changes will:

  • Combine certain routes to optimize service
  • Maintain a robust level of service by adding earlier and later trips and by lengthening the span of service on the new, combined routes
  • Add the new Route 722 to increase service to this part of DuPage County
  • Represent a $1 million net increase in bus service to the county
  • Allow these routes to meet 33% more trains than they currently do
  • Incorporate public feedback from hearings held earlier this year

Routes 462, 464 & 821

Downers Grove, Woodridge

Weekday Rush Hour Service

A streamlined Route 462 will extend to serve the Belmont/63rd Street Park-n-Ride. Route 462 will also make four additional trips to meet trains leaving Metra BNSF Railway Downers Grove Main Street Station at 5:55am and 8:17am and to meet trains returning to the station at 4:25pm and 7:15pm. In response to public hearing feedback, there will be special deviations on one AM and two PM trips to continue service to the intersection of Hall/Devereux. These trips serve the 8:00am inbound train that leaves from Downers Grove in the morning and the evening trains arriving at Main Street in Downers Grove at 5:51pm and 6:14pm.

Current passengers of Route 464 will be served instead by Routes 821 and 462, as Route 464 will be discontinued.

Route 821 will follow its current routing, but will run two additional trips in order to meet the train that leaves Metra BNSF Railway Belmont Station at 8:12am and the train that arrives at 6:43pm. Route 821 will serve the Clubhouse at Bristol Club Apartments on all trips except for the last evening trip leaving from Downers Grove Belmont Street Metra Station.

Routes 684 & 686

Naperville

Weekday Rush Hour Service

In Naperville, Routes 684 and 686 will be combined. The new, combined route will be called Route 684. This new route will follow new routing, but the majority of current Route 684 and Route 686 stops will continue to be served directly by the new route. Most other existing stops are within a quarter-mile of a stop on the new Route 684. The new route will meet all trains currently met at Metra BNSF Railway Naperville Station, and will meet four additional express trains in the morning. In response to public feedback, an earlier afternoon trip has also been added to meet the 4:39pm train.

Routes 688 & 689

Naperville

Weekday Rush Hour Service

Route 688 will be combined with Route 689 and the new route will be called Route 689. This route will follow new routing, but some stops on the current Route 688 and Route 689 will continue to be served by the new Route 689. Most other existing stops are within a quarter-mile of a stop on the new Route 689. The new route will have trips that meet all trains currently met by Route 688 and Route 689 at Metra BNSF Railway Naperville Station and will also meet four additional express trains in the morning. Additionally, in response to public feedback, an earlier afternoon trip has been added to meet the 4:39pm train.

Route 714

Naperville
Weekday Service

The southern section of Route 714 will be realigned. Instead of traveling along Ogden Avenue to Naperville Road, it will continue north along Washington Street to Diehl Road, then follow Diehl Road east to Naperville Road. This will add fixed route service to the area. Passengers wishing to access the portion of Ogden Avenue currently served by Route 714 can use the new Route 722.

New Route 722 Ogden Ave

Naperville, Lisle, Downers Grove, Lombard
Monday - Saturday Service

Route 722, our new route, will connect the Metra BNSF Railway Naperville Station and Yorktown Center in Lombard via Warrenville Road, Ogden Avenue, and Main Street in Downers Grove. Buses will run every 30 min. from 6:13am until 9:59pm on weekdays and from 8:05am until 9:51pm Saturdays.
