Job Description:
Under the direction of the Scheduling Supervisor and using Hastus scheduling software, develops efficient transit schedules and work assignments for vehicles and drivers (run-cuts, blocking, and rosters) primarily for smaller garages or operating entities; develops, analyzes, proofs, and distributes scheduling related statistics and reports; works closely with planning staff in scheduling and designing bus routes and bus travel times; produces, maintains, and exports schedule data to internal and external interfaces such as the Intelligent Bus System (IBS) and the General Transit Feed Specification (GTFS); reviews bus route information in the field; meets with garage staff on scheduling issues; and performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Must have a valid driver's license and a good driving record. Must have a bachelor's degree in urban and regional planning, transportation planning, mathematics, statistics, computer logic, engineering, accounting, geographic information systems, or related field (a master's degree in one of the previously mentioned fields is preferred) and at least one year experience in transit scheduling or related field. However, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the essential duties of the position will be considered. Must have excellent computer skills and be proficient with Microsoft Office, Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; experience with Hastus scheduling software, IBS, GTFS, ArcGIS/Map, Tableau, and Ridecheck is preferred. Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills; exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills; excellent math, logic, and computer skills; outstanding time and project management skills; and the ability to produce accurate work and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
