Job Description:
Under the direction of the Chief Planning Officer, the Department Manager, Service Planning and Scheduling is responsible for the direct supervision of all activities within the Service Planning and Scheduling sections.
Essential Functions include:
- Managing the activities of the Service Planning and Scheduling team, including interns and consultants, and providing guidance and support to staff.
- Preparing, reviewing, and analyzing various planning and scheduling work products.
- Coordinating the evaluation of planning and scheduling inquiries, requests, and proposals and overseeing the implementation of projects and service changes carried out by the Service Planning and Scheduling team.
- Maintaining and updating project timelines and ensuring that work products developed by the Service Planning and Scheduling team are accurate, on-time, and produced in a high-quality manner.
- Assisting the Chief Planning Officer in recruiting and hiring staff and is responsible for evaluating and training Service Planning and Scheduling team members.
- Coordinates Service Planning and Scheduling work activities with other Pace departments and participates in various internal and external meetings where public transit, service planning, and scheduling topics are discussed.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelor's degree in urban and regional planning, transportation planning, or other related field, with a focus in transit planning (a master’s degree in one of the previously mentioned fields is preferred).
Experience:
At least ten (10) years of experience in transit planning, scheduling, or other related field, including at least 2 years of supervisory or management experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the essential duties of the position will be considered.
Certifications:
A valid driver’s license with a good driving record. American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) certification is preferred.
Proficiencies:
Must have excellent computer skills and be proficient with the following software applications: Microsoft Office, Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Must have working knowledge of HASTUS or similar scheduling software. Knowledge of IBS Bus Operations, Tableau, Ridecheck, and ArcGIS/Map is preferred. Excellent verbal and written communication skills; exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills; excellent data analysis, logic, and computer skills; outstanding time and project management skills; and be able to produce accurate work and meet deadlines.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must be able to sit for extended periods of time, type, travel to facilities and locations within Pace’s service area. Must be able to lift items weighing up to 10 pounds.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
The position is based in an office setting with standard office equipment; however, work is occasionally conducted at Pace garages, and at other facilities or locations within Pace’s service area. The workday is 8 hours and can begin as early as 7:00am and end no later than 6:00pm, Monday through Friday. However, the business needs of Pace may result in work schedules outside the typical hours/workdays. This position is not eligible for hybrid or remote telecommuting.
Full Salary Range: $84,574-$186,650
Midpoint: $135,612
Starting salary range: $110,093-$135,612
