Job Description:
Under the direction of the Division Manager or designate, The Safety & Training Manager I is responsible for the development and administration of safety and training programs for personnel authorized to drive revenue vehicles; Job duties include:
- Monitoring annual physicals of safety sensitive employees, FTA drug and alcohol regulations and physicals;
- Monitoring and reporting workers compensation, FMLA, and short term disability;
- Investigating accidents and reviewing reports and preventability assessments of all accidents;
- Conducting building and vehicle safety inspections, safety counseling, training and retraining, and safety meetings;
- Implementing programs designed to protect the safety of employees, passengers, and the public;
- Performing other duties as assigned or directed.
Qualifications
Education:
Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
Experience:
Must have a good work history with a minimum of three years' experience in transportation or related experience.
Must have a thorough knowledge of safety, training, and operations including standard operating procedures and defensive bus driving, experience in accident investigation is preferred.
Certifications:
Must have a valid Class B commercial driver's license with air brake and passenger endorsements, no preventable accidents in the 24 months preceding the bid application up until the date of hire and must possess.
Must have or be able to obtain, a valid Class "A" Commercial Driver's License.
Proficiencies:
Must be able to maintain confidentiality.
Must demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills; problem solving skills; public relations expertise; mathematical proficiency; and quick, accurate decision-making skills.
Must have demonstrated computer skills with an emphasis on Microsoft Suite programs (Outlook, Word, and Excel).
Knowledge of the service area is preferred.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
The performance of these duties may be required at any time of the day and night, any day and night of the week. On call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year and the performance of these duties may be required at any time of the day and night, any day and night of the week. Work is primarily performed in an office environment but work in a garage environment and outdoors in all weather conditions is also required. This position is not eligible for hybrid or remote telecommuting.

Full Salary Range: $63,306-133,008
Midpoint: $98,157
Starting salary range: $63,306-98,157
