Job Description:
Under the direction of the Section Manager, Design and Construction, the summer architectural intern will perform technical and administrative work in support of Pace's Design & Construction Section for the implementation of capital construction projects. The intern will gain technical experience in the design and construction of capital improvement projects for a public agency. Essential functions include, but are not limited to:
- Field observation of construction projects and preparation of daily field reports;
- Assisting in the review of contractor shop drawing submittals, requests for information (RFIs), change order proposals (COPs) and pay applications;
- Assisting in the preparation of sketches and concept plans for Pace facilities.
- Assisting in the preparation and review of construction cost estimates
- Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
Age:
18+.
Education:
High school diploma or equivalency and currently enrolled in a 2-year or 4-year accredited college or university and working toward a degree in architecture, construction management, or related field.
Experience (how many years, what specific experience):
Must be enrolled in a 2-year or 4-year accredited college or university and working toward a degree in architecture, construction management, or related field.
Certifications:
Driver’s license with good driver record required.
Proficiencies:
Must demonstrate proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook applications. Experience with AutoCad is preferred.
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to sit for extended periods of time, type, and travel throughout the Pace service area to conduct site visits and other related activity. Must be able to stand for extended periods of time and work outside in all weather conditions.
Work Location:
Pace Headquarters, 550 W. Algonquin Rd., Arlington Heights, IL 60005.
Working Conditions:
The position is based in an office setting with standard office equipment but will include work on active construction sites. The typical workday is 8-hours; Monday through Friday, from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. However, the business needs of Pace may result in work schedules outside the typical hours/workdays. This position is not eligible for hybrid or remote telecommuting.
Salary:
$21/hr.
