Job Description:
Pace’s vanpool is a public transportation program designed to reduce the number of Pace vehicles. In a Pace van, a group of commuters can travel together to work, share resources, and save money compared to driving alone or in a carpool. Pace’s fleet includes over 400 vehicles. Under the direction of the Supervisor, Vanpool Services, the Vanpool intern assists the Vanpool department’s day to day activities, including:
- Conduct/assist department with vehicle site inspections using Fastfield mobile application.
- Assist department with spreadsheet creation/update for data collection/contract information collection project.
- Assist department with updating non-traditional groups monthly reports, ridership logs and expense forms.
- Assist department with traditional group route sheet update project.
- Assist department with other projects as assigned.
The intern will gain hands-on experience working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment where they will manage multiple projects simultaneously and develop strong organizational skills. The intern will also improve their technical skills through hands-on work with various software tools and collaborate with team members to support customer service and operational goals.

Qualifications:
Age:
18+.
Education:
High school diploma or equivalency and be enrolled in an accredited 2-year or 4-year college.
Experience:
The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years of experience in an office or administrative environment, with a strong emphasis on data management. Experience in handling and organizing large sets of data, ensuring accuracy and consistency, is essential. Experience in performing inspections or audits, particularly related to vehicle conditions or similar operational tasks, is a plus. The candidate should be comfortable documenting findings in a detailed and clear manner, as well as generating follow-up reports based on their inspections. Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to work independently and within deadlines are critical to this role.
Certifications:
Must have a valid Illinois, Wisconsin or Indiana Driver’s license with a good driving record.
Proficiencies:
An individual hired for this position must be proficient with Microsoft Office suite products, including the ability to create, update, and analyze spreadsheets in Microsoft Excel. The candidate should be comfortable documenting findings in a detailed and clear manner, as well as generating follow-up reports based on their inspections. Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to work independently and within deadlines are critical to this role.
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to sit for extended periods of time, drive within Pace’s service area, type, file documents, and carry objects up to 20 pounds.
Work Location:
The primary work location is Pace Vanpool, 14539 S. Depot Drive, Plainfield, Illinois
Hours:
Up to 37.5 hours per week.
Working Conditions:
The position is based in an office setting with standard office equipment. The typical workday is conducted over an 8-hour period and can begin as early as 7:00 am and end no later than 6:00 pm, Monday through Friday. However, the business needs of Pace may result in work schedules outside the typical hours/workdays. This position is not eligible for hybrid or remote telecommuting.
Salary:
$21/hr.
