Board briefed on ReVision survey, open houses, and record-setting ridership
ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, IL — At this week’s Pace Board of Directors meeting, Pace staff and consultants from Jarrett Walker + Associates presented high-level concepts as part of ReVision, a transformative initiative aimed at reimagining suburban transit service to better meet the evolving needs of the region. As part of this project, Pace has announced an online survey and a series of open houses, starting November 20, 2024, to engage the public and gather valuable feedback on future transit services.
The ReVision project seeks to reimagine Pace’s transit network, informed by shifts in travel patterns and rider feedback. The concepts highlight potential changes meant to expand access, improve frequency, and create a system better aligned with the needs of today’s suburban riders.
“ReVision represents an important opportunity for the community to help build a future-focused transit system that works for everyone,” said Pace Chairman Rick Kwasneski. “This initiative will shape the next generation of transit service across the region, and I encourage all riders and stakeholders to participate in the online survey or attend an open house.”
Pace’s ReVision online survey and open houses offer residents, riders, and stakeholders the chance to provide input on how transit can best serve their needs. Survey participants and open house attendees will have the opportunity to review network concepts, consider service priorities, and learn about specific routes and services. More information about the service concepts, survey, and open houses can be found at www.pacebus.com/revision. Community and passenger feedback will be essential in refining the final service concepts.
"Pace is committed to building the transit system of the future," said Melinda Metzger, Executive Director of Pace. "We recognize that travel patterns have evolved, and our ReVision project is designed to keep ‘pace’ with these changes. We’re looking forward to hearing from our riders and the public to help guide these decisions."
Additionally at this week’s Pace Board of Directors meeting, Metzger announced a new ridership record, marking a major milestone in Pace’s ongoing ridership recovery. “I am excited to share that October was another record-breaking month for us, with our system carrying 2,244,251 riders. ADA paratransit ridership has also shown sustained growth, now consistently exceeding pre-pandemic levels.”
The Pace Board of Directors meets monthly in Arlington Heights, typically on the third Wednesday of each month at 9:30 A.M.
