Route 501 Service Change

Effective Monday, June 1, 2026

As part of a pilot project, Pace is improving and expanding service on Route 501. A summary of the changes is provided below:

All service days:

- Route 501 will be extended to IL-59 and Caton Farm Road. Buses will operate via Jefferson – Houbolt – (JJC campus) – Olympic – Gateway – IL-59 – Caton Farm. As a result, Route 501 will no longer operate on Rock Creek Boulevard or Jefferson Street between Houbolt Road and IL-59.

- J, W, and X trip patterns will be discontinued. Instead, all 501 trips will serve Joliet Junior College and Rt. 59 & Jefferson St. in both directions. The bus will not enter Shorewood Jewel.

Weekday:

- Improved hours of service available from 5:08AM to 10:10PM, with buses operating every 30 minutes for most of the day.

Saturday:

- Improved hours of service available from 6:07AM to 10:05PM.
