William D. McLeod
Director McLeod is the Mayor of Hoffman Estates, having been first elected in April 2001, after serving as Acting Mayor since September 2000 and as Village Trustee since 1980. Throughout his tenure, Mayor McLeod has focused on the village's growth, economic development, housing, infrastructure, transportation, and business retention. He has also placed a strong emphasis on intergovernmental relationships, working actively on local, regional, and state committees to ensure residents and businesses are well-represented. A strong advocate for transformative local and regional transportation projects, Mayor McLeod successfully facilitated the Park-n-Ride facility at Barrington Road.
Director McLeod has served on several boards and committees, including the Northwest Municipal Conference (as President, Member of the Executive Board of Directors, Chair of the Economic Development Committee, Co-Chair of the Legislative Committee, and Chair of the Transportation Committee), as a Member of the U.S. Conference of Mayors since 2000 (and on their Transportation & Infrastructure Committee and Tourism Committee), and as a Member for the National League of Cities’ Transportation Steering Committee (since 1989), and served as Co-Chair for the STAR Line Task Force in 2001.
McLeod serves as a Director of the Joint Action Water Agency, has represented Hoffman Estates for 20 years on the Regional Cable Group, and is a former director of the Greater Woodfield Convention and Visitors Bureau. McLeod is a long-standing supporter of the environment, as one of 1,000 U.S. mayors to sign the U.S. Conference of Mayors' Climate Protection Agreement.
Director McLeod is a Leadership Board Member for Women in Need Growing Stronger, a Leadership Board Member for Children’s Advocacy Center of North and Northwest Cook County, and a former Board Member of Northwest Suburban Boy Scout Council 2007. He is a former Director of the Schaumburg Regional Air Park and the Former President for Greater Chicagoland Parents of the Hearing Impaired.
He co-owned Paralegal Messenger Service from 1971 – 2005 and served as a Legislative Assistant to an Illinois State Representative for four years. A small business owner for 35 years, McLeod’s leadership reflects his dedication to his community. He and his wife Joane enjoy time with their eight children and twelve grandchildren.
On Pace's Board of Directors, he represents Northwest Suburban Cook County. He has served on the Pace Board since 2020.
