Pace is celebrating its 40th anniversary of providing public transportation to Chicagoland riders. We are encouraging artists within Cook, DuPage, Kane, Lake, McHenry, and Will Counties to create works of art on 40 benches for use at Pace bus stops.
Upon an approved application, Pace will deliver a bench to you for painting or decorating. Once the artwork is completed, we will pick it up from you and install it at one of our bus stops for the enjoyment of the entire community. Bus riders will appreciate a place to sit while waiting for the bus while passersby can appreciate your contribution to public beautification!
To participate in the Pace 40th anniversary bench artwork project, an artist 18 years of age or older or the parent or legal guardian of an artist under 18 years of age must email the following documents to Pace at PaceBenches@gatesmanagency.com:
- Completed Application, including the artist’s original design concept for the artwork on the bench, which is subject to Pace’s approval.
- Signed Bench Artwork Agreement, which contains details regarding such matters as artwork prohibitions and ownership, artist duties and responsibilities, and bench dimensions and weight.
The artist will receive a $500.00 Visa gift card if Pace approves of the artist’s completed artwork.
Only one artist per bench is permitted.
