Job Description:
Under the direction of the Superintendent of Transportation, or designee, performs road supervisor and/or dispatcher duties. Supervision encompasses all field operations including but not limited to: investigating accidents and passenger incidents; assisting with detour routing, vehicle breakdowns, and passenger relations; monitoring the performance of Bus Operators to ensure that fixed route service is provided and that Bus Operators perform in accordance with Pace standards; performing field supervision of Pace special events and other activities; and performing security checks at transit centers and park-n-rides. Dispatch functions encompass IBS supervision and coordination of bus routes and Bus Operators including but not limited to: maintaining the work assignment board; operating and monitoring radio and IBS; responding to calls; coordinating detours and notifying proper authorities in emergencies, breakdowns, or upon Bus Operator's request; operating a bus when required; generating and maintaining paperwork including dispatch paperwork and Bus Operator violations; answering telephone calls; responding to inquiries; and performing other duties as assigned or required. The performance of these duties may be required at any time of the day and night, any day and night of the week. This is a safety sensitive position.
Qualifications:
Must be at least 21 years of age, have a high school diploma or equivalent, have, or be able to obtain a valid Class B Commercial Driver's License with air brake and passenger endorsements, and have, or be able to obtain a DOT physical card. Must have at least 3 years' experience in transportation with a good work record, including attendance history, supervisory experience is preferred. Must have supervisory ability and knowledge of the service area. Must demonstrate computer proficiency with Microsoft Office, Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint applications. Must possess and demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills and good written and verbal communication skills. Must demonstrate the ability to maintain professional composure when confronted with difficult situations; make quick, accurate decisions; and to handle sensitive information in a professional manner, including maintaining confidentiality. Must be able to work outdoors in all types of weather.
