Job Description:
Under the direction of the South Regional Manager, the Safety and Training Administrator is responsible for assisting with developing, preparing, and implementing safety training programs and materials. Responsibilities include:
- Training individuals in bus operations.
- Providing both classroom and behind the wheel training/retraining of Pace's Standard Operating Procedures and defensive driving curriculum.
- Investigating accidents/incidents and tracking trends.
- Performing property, vehicle safety, and security inspections/audits.
- Developing and preparing reports.
- Tracking DOT and CDL requirements.
- Coordinating awards programs and banquets.
- Performing other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Age:
Must be 21 and over.
Education:
High school diploma or equivalency; an associate degree or equivalent experience is preferred.
Experience:
Must have a minimum of 5 years' experience working in safety and/or training for public transportation including experience in investigating, assessing, and grading accidents.
Certifications/Licenses:
Must possess an Illinois Class "B" CDL with passenger and air brake endorsement for a
minimum of 1 year immediately prior to date of hire.
Must have or obtain a Class "A" commercial driver's license within 6 months after date of hire. Must possess and maintain a DOT medical examiner's certificate.
Must have or be able to obtain a DOT card within 6 months of being hired.
Instructor certification and/or a degree in Instructional Design/Development and Accident investigation is preferred.
Proficiencies:
Familiarity with Pace fixed routes, paratransit operations, and service area, and familiarity with OSHA Regulations and ADA regulations as they apply to public transportation is required.
Familiarity with Pace Safety Training and Pace Standard Operating Procedures is preferred.
Computer proficiency using Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) is required, proficiency using Apex is preferred.
Must be detail-oriented and possess and demonstrate strong interpersonal, communication, public speaking, and decision-making skills and must be able to maintain confidentiality.
Working Conditions:
This position is based in a typical office setting, with standard office equipment, including a computer, phone, and desk space, and local travel to other operating divisions is required. Performance of these duties may be required at any time of the day and night, and any day or night of the week. This position is not eligible for telecommuting or a hybrid work schedule.
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to stand and sit for extended periods, operate Pace equipment, and lift objects up to 10 pounds. Must be available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.
This is a safety sensitive position.
Salary:
Full salary range: $56,523-$113,102
Midpoint: $84,813
Starting salary range: $70,668 to $84,813
Pace provides full pay ranges so candidates can consider their growth potential. The final salary will depend on the candidate's qualifications.
