Job Description:
Under the direction of the Department Manager, Service Planning and Scheduling, the Supervisor, Service Planning, is responsible for the direct supervision of all activities within the Service Planning section.
Essential Functions include:
- Supervising the activities of the Service Planning team, including consultants and interns, and assisting in the evaluation, training, and mentoring of staff;
- Preparing reviewing, proofing, analyzing, and distributing various planning work products and ensures that assigned work products and those developed by the Service Planning team are accurate, on-time, and produced in a high-quality manner;
- Assisting in the evaluation of planning inquiries, requests, and proposals and in reviewing, investigating, and responding to internal and external inquiries about the planning or scheduling of routes and services;
- Planning, implementing, and evaluating changes in routes and services, analyzes route and service performance data using various data sources and software, and works with Pace’s Posted Stops team to identify bus stop locations;
- Participates in complex planning tasks and projects such as land use, corridor, service, and restructuring studies and initiatives;
- Coordinating Service Planning work activities with other Pace departments, participating in various internal and external meetings, and conducting field work to review current service and plan new service; and
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in urban and regional planning, transportation planning or other related field, with a focus in transit planning. Master’s degree in one of the aforementioned fields is preferred.
Experience:
Must have at least five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in transit planning. Ten (10) or more years of experience in transit planning is preferred. An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the essential duties of the position will be considered.
Certifications:
A valid driver’s license with a good driving record. American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) certification is preferred.
Proficiencies:
Must have excellent computer skills and have advanced level proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite of products such as Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Must have advanced level proficiency with ArcGIS/Map and Ridecheck.
Knowledge of IBS Bus Operations, Tableau, and HASTUS is preferred.
Must have excellent verbal and written communications skills.
Must have exceptional proofing, analytical, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
Must have excellent data analysis, logic, and computer skills
Must have outstanding time and project management skills and be able to produce accurate work while meeting deadlines
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must be able to sit for extended periods of time, type, travel to facilities and locations within Pace’s service area. Must be able to lift items weighing up to 10 pounds.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
This position is based in a typical office setting with standard equipment including a computer, phone, and desk space. Work is occasionally performed at Pace garages, in the field, or at other facilities or locations within the Pace service area. The typical workday is conducted over an 8-hour period and can begin as early as 7:00am and end no later than 6:00pm, Monday through Friday. However, the business needs of Pace may result in work schedules outside the typical hours/workdays. This position is not eligible for hybrid or remote telecommuting.

Full salary range: $70,902-148,969
Midpoint: $109,936
Starting salary range: $70,902-109,936
