Pace’s first Hire on the Spot event of 2023 scheduled for Saturday, January 21 at Pace’s Headquarters in Arlington Heights
ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, IL – Earlier today, the Pace Board of Directors met for their January 2023 meeting and received updates on a number of Pace initiatives. In her report, Executive Director Melinda Metzger highlighted the agency’s 2022 annual report, Transitions & Innovations, noting that, “2022 was a year of innovation and transition and has positioned us well to come out of Covid with new and flexible options.”
Metzger went on to report on Pace’s efforts to recruit the next generation of professional bus operators and mechanics. “Employee recruitment continues to be a major focus in order to have the resources that we need to support our system, which is why we will continue to aggressively recruit new employees—bus operators, mechanics, and other support staff,” she said. “This weekend, we will hold our first ‘Hire on the Spot’ event here in Arlington Heights to hopefully attract more employees.”
Pace’s Hire on the Spot event will take place from 9:00 a.m.–2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 21, 2023, at Pace’s headquarters in Arlington Heights (550 W. Algonquin Road). Same-day job offers will be made, light refreshments will be served, and attendees will be entered into a raffle for Schaumburg Boomers baseball tickets.
Those interested in becoming professional bus operators or mechanics should bring their Secretary of State driver’s abstract/MVR and attend one of two three-hour assessment sessions beginning at 9:30 a.m. or 11:30 a.m. All others interested in learning more or applying for employment can stop by any time between 9:00 a.m.–2:00 p.m.
As part of their ongoing efforts to remove financial barriers for those seeking a career with Pace, the agency provides FREE Class “B” commercial driver’s license (CDL) permit courses and paid training for qualified candidates.
