This June brings two exciting reservation-based service expansions to Pace’s system: the introduction of VanGo vanpool service in Lake County and the expansion of the Naperville-Aurora On Demand service.
VanGo is a new vanpool initiative aimed at increasing first/last-mile options for commuters. The first-of-its-kind vanpool program allows commuters to reserve and drive Pace-owned vans parked at Lake–Cook Road and Lake Forest Metra Stations. Qualified participants can use the vehicle to travel to worksites in a defined geographic zone. This new option will address the need for first/last-mile connections where the market doesn’t warrant traditional bus service due to new and variable work schedules. If successful, VanGo may be expanded to other areas in the coming year.
Additionally, a pilot that began this week has doubled the service area of the Naperville-Aurora On Demand, a reservation-based service open to the general public. The expanded service area now includes popular destinations like Downtown Naperville, North Central College, Edward Hospital, and various corporate campuses. The service now connects with Pace Routes 714 and 722 and with the Naperville Metra Station. Read more about these changes here.
