Route 542 Detour Alert

Effective Saturday June 20, 2026, ONLY

Due to a temporary closure on Grove Avenue between Prairie and Lake Streets, Route 542 will detour as follows for all trips on Saturday:

Outbound:

Elgin TC → Chicago → Villa → National → Raymond (regular route)

Inbound:

Villa (regular route) → DuPage → Spring → Highland → Elgin TC

During this detour, buses will not serve Spring and Grove between DuPage and National. Outbound buses will not serve National between Grove and Raymond and Spring between Chicago and DuPage. Inbound buses will not serve National from Villa to Raymond.

Please note that posted bus stop signs will not be present along the detour routing. Passengers may get on or off the bus at an intersection along the detour where it is safe to do so.
