Route 548 Detour Alert

Effective Tuesday, September 8, 2026

Due to construction on Edison between Highland and Larkin in Elgin, all inbound Route 548 trips will detour as follows:

Highland → Larkin → Edison (regular route) 

During this detour, inbound buses will not serve Edison between Highland and Larkin.

Outbound buses are not affected and will operate the regular route.

Please note that posted bus stop signs will not be present along the detour routing. Passengers may get on or off the bus at any intersection along the detour where it is safe to do so. 

Buses will resume regular route upon the completion of construction, anticipated Saturday, September 12, 2026. Please allow additional travel time during the detour.
