April 2026 update:
The following programmatic changes are coming soon to Pace’s Taxi Access Program (TAP) and Rideshare Access Program (RAP).
- The number of TAP and RAP rides available to qualified ADA Certified riders is increasing from 30 to 40 rides per month per rider. An effective date for that change will be announced soon.
- Riders will soon be able to apply for this per month ride increase at https://fares.rtachicago.org/. TAP- and RAP-enrolled riders will be notified via email when they can apply. This page will also be updated regularly.
- For riders who do not apply for an increase, the 30 ride-per-month cap will remain in place.
- TAP and RAP fares will remain at $3.25 per trip, equal to the ADA Paratransit fare.
- ADA certified riders can continue to ride free on CTA, Metra, and Pace fixed routes.
The following Program policies remain in place:
- Traditional ADA Paratransit service continues at $3.25 per ride and eligible riders may take as many ADA Paratransit trips as they wish.
- The maximum trip cost to be subsidized by Pace’s RAP or TAP program is still $30. Any amount exceeding $30 is the responsibility of the rider.
For TAP riders: a new Rider Guide will be posted here, once RTA and Pace finalize the details on applying for the 40-ride cap. The TAP webpage has details about how trip fares in your account today will be handled. All trip fares loaded to your account will continue to cost $3.25. After you take 30 rides (or 40, if you are approved for the increase) in a calendar month, you will be responsible for the full cost for any taxi ride. It is recommended that you monitor your TAP riding activity in your account to avoid unexpected charges.
For RAP riders: the fare amount you pay is visible in the Uber or UZURV app, as always, at the time of booking. After you take 30 rides (or 40, if you are approved for the increase) in a calendar month, vouchers will not appear in your booking app until the next month.
Pace remains committed to providing as much service to our community as the RTA will fund. If you haven’t already, please sign up for alerts on these topics at Pace Suburban Bus so you can be directly notified of any additional changes to these programs.
