Depending on how your carpool or vanpool is designed, participants could take public transportation between a vanpool stop and the origin and/or destination. Use our Transit app to plan the commute and see what service is available for the first or last mile of your trip.
Public Transportation Network:
The GasBuddy app allows users to share and find nearby gas stations with the best gas prices. You can also join the app’s Pay with GasBuddy and Pay with GasBuddy Premium plans to save five cents (or more) per gallon.
Park-n-ride lots are available to anyone in a rideshare group. The lots are usually situated in less crowded areas, like the suburbs, and are conveniently located near highway interchanges and major roads, making them perfect meeting points for long-distance commuters. Parking fees can vary but many lots are either low-cost or completely free. Some employers provide a pre-tax qualified parking benefit subsidy that would most likely cover any costs. Parking can get expensive especially if you need to park daily. A parking app can help with searching for spots and easily comparing rates and times. Through the Park Chicago app, you can also extend your parking session, receive notifications when your parking session time is low and get email receipts at the end of your session.
