Pace Service - Chicago

Ride Pace in Chicago

Fixed Route Service

Pace’s fixed bus routes carry millions of riders per month and serve more than 210 municipalities in the six-county area of Northeastern Illinois. Bus service operates on set schedules along designated routes. Every Pace bus is designed to be fully accessible for everyone. Even if you are eligible for ADA Paratransit Service, you can still take advantage of the fixed route bus. You can access details about the bus tracker, schedules, passenger updates, connections to trains and buses, as well as information on fares, transfers, and park-n-ride options for each route after completing a search.

Search Bus Schedules, Routes and Maps

View the RTA System map to explore Pace service in Chicago as well as connections to Metra and CTA service.  You can also search our bus schedules by entering Chicago or a specific street name in the search tool.  For best results, remember to use quotation marks for phrases that consist of two or more words.

ADA Paratransit

The ADA paratransit service is mandated by the federal Americans with Disabilities Act and is designed for individuals whose disabilities or health conditions prevent them from using CTA and/or Pace fixed route services for part or all their travel. Paratransit offers an alternative as trips are scheduled at the same times as the existing fixed route service and operate within the same areas.

To Get Started:

  1. Get certified to use the service.
  2. Explore ADA Paratransit:
    • Chicago service with Pace small buses
    • City of Chicago Taxi Access Program (TAP) with a Chicago taxi provider
    • Rideshare Access Program (RAP) through Uber or UZURV
  3. Set up your fare payment or use cash.
  4. Discover more about how it works, fares, along with helpful tips.
Vanpoolers Drive Together in a Pace Van.

Vanpool

Head to your job in a Pace-owned van—join an existing vanpool or start your own group. Primary drivers may ride free and can also use the van for personal errands.  Pace Vanpools can reduce costs since they include fuel, maintenance, insurance, roadside assistance and more. Use our Rideshare Savings calculator to see your savings.

Vanpools are compatible with hybrid, reduced work weeks and standard shifts. Rider monthly fares are based on distance, ride frequency, and group size. With grants and options like tax benefits and employer subsidies, vanpool can be even more budget friendly.

To Get Started:

  • Learn about the 2 types of vanpools.
  • Discover where you can join a vanpool.
  • Register and search for an existing group.
  • Become a Vanpool driver.
  • Create a new vanpool group.
  • Calculate your monthly fare.
  • Explore frequently asked questions.

Pace has other vanpool programs for non-profits, corporations and agencies who serve people with disabilities. See PaceVanpool.com for details.
